While I'm not usually a huge fan of female country, I enjoy Kacey Musgraves' music. CMT Crossroads has paired up some great musicians, and despite never listening to Katy Perry's music (ok fine, only on occasion), I really enjoyed this crossroads. Two beautiful musicians (Kacey Musgraves is seriously smoking hot), and having Katy Perry sing country music really showcased her voice. I enjoyed the Kacey Musgraves songs they sang more (second song, about 5 minutes in, another one 14 minutes in and another 25, could be more too). Give it a listen, and don't revoke my man card.

Not so much a thing against female country music but more against modern country music. I like my country music with Hank, Merle, Conway, and Johnny.

Kacey is an exceptional storyteller - I really like everything she has been doing lately.

I agree; and this is from a guy who is forced to listen to bro-country most of the day. I mention that only because you would think it should make me hate all (current) country music.
I really feel like she has a grasp on what country music actually is; it can run the gamut from dirty, white trash stuff to nice, gentle melodies that tell bittersweet stories.
